Description
One turquoise blue silk banner for the Leith Dockers, with identical painted decoration on both sides. The fringe is gold silk on three sides. The pole sleeve is turquoise silk lined with linen. The title scroll cartouche scroll is comprised of two scrolls woven together and reads, 'SUCCESS TO THE PORT OF LEITH. SIGILLUM OPPIDI DE LEITH (black on gold text). The banner features in its centre the Coat of Arms of Leith with Mary and baby Jesus in a ship, framed in gold, with '18 PERSEVERE 58' at bottom. There are motto scrolls on left and right which read, 'LIVE AND LET LIVE (black on gold text), there is a ship on the left, and a house with '1490 XXXX' on the right. At the bottom there is a cornucopia with wheat sheaves and anchor crossed at bottom.
