Edinburgh and Scottish Collection
Once a separate village, Davidson's Mains is now part of the city of Edinburgh. It is situated roughly 3 miles north west of the city centre, close to the north end of Costorphine Hill. The village was originally known as Muttonhole, and this older name has not entirely fallen out of use. The area gained its current name from its association with the Davidson Family who owned the nearby Muirhouse estate.
