Edinburgh's Bedlam was situated on the corner of the streets now called Bristo Place and Teviot Place. The last inmates were transferred from here to the Edinburgh Lunatic Asylum in the mid 19th century. This new institution in Morningside developed into the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. The old Bedlam was removed in 1871.
