High School Yards, Edinburgh
Description
A man on a worksite stands on a low section of scaffolding and pulls on a rope attached to a bucket. There is a plank gangway up to the ledge where the man stands and a wheelbarrow beside him. Another man wearing a cap and a striped waistcoat, stands in front of a doorway with his hands in his pockets and watches the labourer working.

High School Yards is situated close to, and parallel with the Cowgate in Edinburgh. Edinburgh High School was located immediately to the south of the yards until it moved to Regent Road in 1829, where it stayed for 140 years.
