Description
Against the Old Town skyline showing the Bank of Scotland building and the spire of St Giles Cathedral is the Scott Monument in Edinburgh. In the centre of the monument is a statue of Sir Walter Scott. On the roads close to the monument there are a horse and cart and a horse and carriage.

The Scott Monument was built as a memorial to the writer Sir Walter Scott. Construction took place between 1840-1846 on the George Kemp design. Two hundred and eighty seven steps take you to the top, offering views along Edinburgh's Princes Street.
