Description
A drawing of Brown's Square, Edinburgh, sited around a central garden with trees. The houses to the right have been constructed at different times and have many different roof lines. I washing is drying on a line outside it. Across the road a tall tenement block stands. The road is busy with people walking and driving in carts.

Brown's Square stood close to the junction of Chambers Street and George IV Bridge in Edinburgh. It disappeared, along with Adam's Square, Argyle Square, and North College Street in the construction of Chambers Street in 1871.
