Sketch depicting the elaborate gateway leading to the burial ground of St. Giles Cathedral. A small lintel notes the date 1620, above a series of carved stone plinths and such constuctions.

Full title reads 'A view of the entrance to St Giles burying ground situated on the east side of Forresters Wynd taken on the spot while pulling down in Autumn 1795 occasioned by a very great fire 12th [word illegible] 1786 in the close [?] named [word illegible] of Beith's Wynd [word illegible] on the [word illegible] side of the wynd about 250 feet from the northern channel of Cowgate [?] Street South.
