Description
Cranston & Elliot's is festooned with decorations to celebrate the visit of King Edward and Queen Alexandra to Edinburgh in 1903. The building is covered with floral garlands and bunting. People line its balconies and peer through he windows. The street outside is filled with soldiers both on foot and on horseback. A group of lifeguards are riding by.

Princes Street is one of the main thoroughfares and shopping areas in Edinburgh. It was created as part of James Craig's New Town development and named in honour of George III's sons. With the exception of St John's Church there is no building on the southern side of Princes Street, allowing spectacular views of Edinburgh Castle and Old Town.
