Description

Barnbougle Castle is next to the river Forth on the outskirts of Edinburgh and is enclosed by an ornamental carved stone balustrade. A sea wall made from rocks and stone is beneath the Castle along the waters edge.

Barnbougle Castle is situated on the Firth of Forth, roughly 2 miles east of South Queensferry. It is a 13th century tower house, built by and still in the ownership of the Rosebery family.

It is now used as an events venue.

This photograph is from a volume entitled 'Photographs of houses in the vicinity of Lauriston Castle' which was compiled in 1909. The book has the armorial bookplate of Macknight Crawfurd of Cartsburn, Lauriston Castle, on the inside cover.
