McEwan Hall is situated immediately to the west of Bristo Square. It was designed by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson and built between 1888-97 with funds donated by the brewer William McEwan. The hall's principal function is as a venue for graduations, but it also hosts concerts, public events and examinations.
Bristo Place is a short street running south-west from Bristo Square in Edinburgh. It was originally the southernmost section of Bristo Street which ran from Chapel Street, and was destroyed in the development of Bristo Square in 1982.
