View exhibition items
Auld Reekie Retold is the biggest collections inventory and story catching project ever undertaken by Museums & Galleries Edinburgh.
Between October 2019 and September 2022, our team was working through the museum stores across the City, checking records, photographing objects and researching the stories which bring the City’s collections to life.
The aim of the project is to better understand these objects so that we can preserve them for the future and find new ways to interpret them, with and for you, the people of Edinburgh. The objects are connected with the whole group of the City’s museums, from the Museum of Childhood to Lauriston Castle.
An
exhibition
opened at the City Art Centre on 3rd December showcasing some of the highlight stories and objects. You can find out more about these objects in this online exhibition.
The Auld Reekie Retold project homepage
lists all the resources the project produced, from blogs to podcasts, films to behind the scene glimpses into the work of our collections and curatorial teams.
