Title
Parliamentary Reform Banner, United Brushmakers of Edinburgh
Description
One blue wool banner for the United Brushmakers of Edinburgh. The banner has a painted design and blue silk fringe. The banner bears the same inscription in both the top right and left corners, 'CARRIED IN 1832'. The centre of the banner features a coat of arms and includes a shield flanked by a person in a full suit of armour and a hog. The coat of arms is surmounted by a twin headed bird and an inscription in a white banner that reads, 'UNITED WITH LIBERTY & COMMERCE'.

This banner was made for the Radical Demonstration in favour of the Franchise Bill in 1884 and carried on the reverse of banner HH1060/1/47. The banners were separated in the conservation process in 1991.
