Silk banner for the Loyal Order of Ancient Shepherds
Description
One green silk banner for the Loyal Order of Acient Shepherds. The banner has a red silk border and painted decoration on both sides. The title scroll cartouche reads, 'PENNY WELL LODGE', the motto scroll reads, 'LOYAL ORDER OF ANCIENT SHEPHERDS A.U'. The centre panel includes a roundel with a painting of Penny Well in Grange Loan, nearby Findhorn Place, Arthur's Seat is in the background. There is a large house with a green railing, and a woman and child drinking from a water fountain, wearing 1890s clothing. At the bottom are the Edinburgh and Leith coats of arms, and in the roundel is inscribed, 'NO 2188 EDINBURGH & LEITH'. to either side of the roundel are two shepherds holding crooks and wearing shepherds plaids.
