Craigentinny is an area of Edinburgh located a short distance south-east of Leith. The Craigentinny Meadows produced vast quantities of meadow grass using a sewage-irrigation system. Half of Edinburgh's sewage was carried to the two hundred and sixty acres site via the "Foul Burn" where it was pumped over the land. Fields were rotated every three weeks and irrigation was carried out everyday except Sundays. The nearby Craigentinny Farm rented some of the meadows for grazing land for their dairy cows. The area is now the home to Craigentinny Golf Course.
