Biography
Sketchnthecity
is a project partnership between artist Carl Lavia, aka Sketch, and photographer Lorna Le Bredonchel.
Sketch is a London-based artist working predominantly with ink on archival paper. His subject matter has always been cityscapes. He chooses to depict the city from an aerial viewpoint, capturing an intensely intricate and delicate expansiveness. His earlier cityscapes were generally fictive, though now he has taken a new direction with Sketchnthecity project co-founder and photographer Lorna Le Bredonchel.
Together they are on a country-wide mission: Carl is attempting to sketch, in large-scale, every single city within the UK. Together they aim to exhibit each cityscape within its city and eventually form one large exhibition of all 69 artworks to be shown in several spaces throughout the UK.
The Edinburgh cityscape was completed in September 2017 and was the 3rd in the '69 Cities of the UK' project.
