Description
An image of the beach and pier at Portobello, Edinburgh. Lots of children sit in the sand, whilst a man in a top hat looks towards the camera. He has a dog by his side. Several small rowing boats are lined up by the shore and several groups of people are setting sail. The metal pier stretches out into the sea.

This image was possibly taken by Thomas Polson Lugton, who worked from various Edinburgh locations between 1892 and 1918. His trade name "Poulton" is derived from his middle and last names.
