Title
Page twenty-five from 'Flora's Feast', the Lilies
Description
Two elegant women stand proudly whilst observing their surroundings. They are both wearing classical dresses and headdresses fashioned from white lilies. The accompanying text reads:
"Here stately Lilies, pale and proud,
In vesture pure as summer cloud".

Crane, Walter

On this page Crane refers to the Lilies as 'proud'. Their stature certainly attests to this statement, as the styling of their dresses brings to mind the physical fortitude of classical columns.
As with most of the illustrations the flower is turned upside down and fashioned into a headdress.
