A female figure wearing a full-length medieval style dress and a headdress collects daisies in amongst the billows of her skirt as she lifts it up as if to curtsey. The accompanying text, containing english and french, reads:
"And Chaucer's Daisy small & sweet -
'Si douce est la Margarete'".

With the illustration of the Daisy Crane clearly reveals that not only is he playing with the forms and colours of the flowers, but he is also playing with language through the use of french in order to secure a rhyme.

Again, he incorporates the Medievalism of the Arts and Crafts movement through the style of dress, as well as a reference to Chaucer, a famous medieval poet who also adopted the duty of storytelling.
