In this image of the Anemones Crane invites the reader to imagine a wind blowing through the garden, calling to mind the physical sensation of weather. This adds to the invocation of sound with the daffodil trumpets on the previous page, as well as the overall use of fragranced flowers. Therefore Crane is repeatedly incorporating more than just the visual in order to engage children. By providing a more integrated experience he is also combating the disjunction of modern existence .
