Albert Dock opened in 1869. At the time of this photograph considerable quantities of goods arrived at Leith and were transported onwards by horses and carts. Of more recent years new houses have been built around the site although the dock is still operational.
These photographs show how labour-intensive unloading goods at the docks was in the 1920s and 1930s.
