This photograph was taken by Robert McKean on Saturday 20th October 1940 at Newhaven fish market, Newhaven on the occasion of the presentation by the people of Newhaven of two ambulances and a cheque for £50 to the British Red (Cross) Society.
Mrs Ritchie was the founder of the Newhaven Fisherwoman's Choir, which gave performances all over the UK.
Ernest Brown was the MP for Leith from 1927 to 1945, and Secretary of State for Scotland from May 1940 to February 1941.
