This notelet is part of a set sold to raise funds for the British Red Cross and the Order of St John during World War 1.
'Bluejackets' is a colloquial term for men of the Royal Navy, whose uniform was blue.
Stationery was a wartime necessity, enabling contact with friends and family at home as well as those serving overseas. By purchasing Red Cross stationery, people were able to support the war effort through shopping.
