The music cover sheet illustration depicts a caricature of John Stuart Blackie, a Professor of Greek at Edinburgh University. The illustration is signed by a W. Mac but little is known about this lithographic artist. The caricature of the Professor is portrayed with an enlarged head, dramatic white hair, dressed in traditional kilt outfit standing up out of his chair, walking stick in hand.

Professor Blackie was a colourful figure who was passionate about Scottish culture and concerns especially with regard to the Crofters and the Highland Clearances. The music composition by F.W. Allwood is a commemorative piece to mark the creation of a Celtic Chair at Edinburgh University in 1882.
