Hay, Thomas Marjoribanks
Biography
Thomas Marjoribanks Hay was born in 1863 or 1864 to James Smart Hay, an engraver and his wife Mary (nee Smith).
In 1871, the family were living at 13 Grindlay Street in Edinburgh. The 1881 census shows the family at the same address, and Thomas, now aged 19 and employed as a glass stainer.
In 1891, Thomas is still living at Grindlay Street, with his older brother James and a housekeeper. His brother is the Drawing Master at the Church of Scotland Training College.
By 1901, Thomas and his brother have moved to 13 Pentland Terrace, where Thomas is listed as an artist (landscape printer).
Thomas died in 1921. His death record shows he was single, a watercolour artist and living at 3 Cambridge Street prior to his death.
