This image is a great example to see how other of the 'universal principles' applies to Moorish ornament. Jones believed that, for achieving a well-balanced ornament, junctions of lines, either curved or straight, should be tangential to each other, as stated in proposition no.12. Oriental cultures almost always follow this rule. The integration of inscriptions with geometric ornament is perfectly accomplished.
