The presence of the three primary colours is not necessary to achieve perfection. The presence of only one of them is enough. This is a precious example of growing vegetable forms creating geometric patterns in an extremely harmonious way: 'There can be no beauty of form, no perfect proportion or arrangement of lines, which does not produce repose'. The integration of inscriptions within the decoration is so subtle that is almost unnoticed.

All illustrations in this volume are attributed to Jones and his sometime travelling partner Jules Goury, a Welsh architect who died of Cholera during their six month stay at The Alhambra.
