Baalbek is an ancient Phoenician city in Lebanon, dating from 9000 BC. During Roman times it was known as Heliopolis, and to this day contains some of Lebanon's best preserved Roman architecture. The Arab man in the foreground allows us to fully appreciate the size of the monuments.
