Description
A view of the stone Alness Bridge crossing the River Averon. The Bridge has two large arches and one smaller arch where it stands on higher ground. Near the bank of the river is an area of cultivated ground and a fence which runs in front of a stone wall.

Alness is situated approximately 3 miles west of Invergordon in the Highlands. The Rail Bridge crosses the River Averon (also known as the River Alness). It was constructed between 1861-3 and built as part of the Inverness and Ross-shire Railway. In 1865, the line would become part of the Highland Railway.
