Ferdinando Ongania [1842 - 1911] was an Italian antiquarian bookseller, with a shop in St. Mark's Square in Venice. From 1861 until his death in 1911 he devoted himself almost entirely to the printing of illustrated art books. His love of Venice inspired him to record the architecture of his beloved city.

"Believed to have been built from designs by Bramante 1504-1546, by order of the Contarini Family; it was called Contarini dalle Figure on account of the many sculptures that adorned it's front."
