The story of the Villa Rosazzo began in the sixteenth century, when many Genoese nobles decided to build what we'd call "second homes", holiday homes outside the city walls. Since they were very rich, they built Villa Rosazza not far from the Palazzo del Principe, in Piazza Di Negro. The villa was called the "Scoglietto", for its position on the sea, and for some rock walls that were still inside. The construction was started around 1555 by Ambrogio Di Negro.
