The Ness Islands are a group of islands separated by a small stream of the River Ness, from the main city of Inverness. The islands provide a wildlife and natural beauty spot in the area. Bridges are the main point of access, the first being built in 1828 which was washed away but the in 1854 by two suspension bridges designed by William Dredge were built. Prior to the bridges the only access to the islands was by boat.
