Red cotton/silk banner with blue silk border and corded fringe and a different painted design on each side. Obverse: roundel with painted scene of a ship, a train (the Coronation Scot) and a truck with the number plate GTL 1950. Title
scroll, AMALGAMATED ENGINEERING UNION in gold lettering. Crossed a hammer and wrench on the left and square and compasses on right.

The district banners of the A.E.U. were all made to a standard design in 1950, the date appears on the numberplate. A late Tutill banner, but still in the firm's unmistakable style.
Formed 1851 as the Amalgamated Society of Engineers,
the name was changed in 1920 to the Amalgamated Engineering Union.
