Description
Printed subscription book for the Shipwrecked Fishermen and Mariners' Royal Benevolent Society (known as the Shipwrecked Mariners' Society). The cover has been torn off, revealing a page to be filled out by an 'Hon. Representative' of the Society and sent to a donor/ subscriber. A portion on the left, to be retained, includes spaces for name, address, amount, date details. A decorative border separates this portion from the main page. The insignia of the Society is included at the top of the page.

The Shipwrecked Fishermen and Mariners' Society was formed in 1839 to raise funds to support the families of fishermen and mariners lost at sea. Incorporated in an Act of Parliament, its aims were to assist those who were shipwrecked (and their families), to give relief to all at sea, and to reward bravery.
