Description
The coat of arms for the town of Musselburgh has three mussel shells on it and three gold anchors. The fishing imagery is set on a blue shield with a decorative gold edge. The word 'Honesty' appears in gold lettering on a blue ribbon above the emblem.

The town of Musselburgh is situated at the mouth of the river Esk, roughly 6 miles to the east of central Edinburgh. The site was inhabited as far back as the 1st century AD when the Romans built a fort and a bridge crossing the river here. The town takes its name from the mussel beds located in the river mouth. These have provided a long-standing source of income for the town's residents.
The Coat of Arms for Musselburgh includes three mussels and three anchors referencing the importance of mussels and fishing to the town's heritage and livelihood. The town motto of 'Honesty' dates back to 1332.Find out more about
