Super Ted was a character in a set of books written by animator and author Mike Young, who invented the character of Super Ted to entertain his stepson. After writing many Super Ted books, Young was then asked to produce a Super Ted television series.
It first aired on 1 November 1982. It was produced by Siriol Animation for Welsh television channel S4C where it was aired in the Welsh language, and later aired in English throughout the whole of the United Kingdom on BBC1. The series won numerous awards, including the 1987 BAFTA for best animation. The animated series followed the adventures of Super Ted, a teddy bear with magical super powers, and his sidekick Spotty as they battle against villain Texas Pete and his gang.
