Tiny Tears was one of the first 'Drink and Wet' dolls, and was launched in the U.K. in 1966. The dolls, which could be 'fed' water and made to cry and wet their nappies, were developed in the United States in the 1950s.
More realistic than other dolls, children could imitate the tasks a parent carries out for a baby, and provided greater interaction than an ordinary baby doll.
'Drink and wet' dolls continue to be popular today with dolls such as Baby Annabel and Baby Born, produced by Zapf-Creation's, are even more realistic and technologically advanced.
