JOFA skateboard helmet
Description
A blue coloured plastic helmet with rubber padding inside. The helmet has a white rubber chin strap which fastens with one stud. The text 'JOFA' is printed on two stickers which are stuck to either side of the helmet. The letters 'V M' are embossed on the front of the helmet. The helmet is for use with a skateboard.

The helmet shown here was given to Kenneth Borthwick, Provost of Edinburgh, when he officially opened a new skateboard centre at Eldorado Stadiuim on 28 January 1978. A helmet, knee and elbow pads were also included. The Provost presented them to the Museum of Childhood as items representing present day childhood.
