Tall blocks of flats and tenements line the left hand side of a narrow road that winds its way uphill. To the right of the road there is a small grassy area. Two women stand at the top of a staircase outside a front door of one of the flats.

Print dated: July 1853.
Craig's Close originally ran from the north side of the High Street in Edinburgh down to Market Street. Its southern section was destroyed in an extension to City Chambers in the 1930's. Its northern section remains, running from Cockburn Street down to Market Street.
