As a communication between the old and new town across the North Loch from the Lawnmarket to Princes Street will be a great utility to the inhabitants of both - that it might be immediately put into execution a number of Heritors and citizens met some time ago and appointed a committee to wait on the Town Council with a petition that they would stake out the ground which to them would appear most proper for that perpose..."
