This is a photograph from the book 'Origin, nomenclature and location of various houses and streets in Edinburgh'.
Bell's Brewery, 40 Pleasance ceased to brew in 1934 after being closed by Custom's and Excise due to irregularities in brewing. It was then acquired by John Jeffery & Co Ltd. Court orders were issued in 1934 to wind up the company which was finally dissolved in 1943.
