This is a photograph from the book 'Origin, nomenclature and location of various houses and streets in Edinburgh'.
This house once occupied the site of Gillespie's Hospital near Bruntsfield Links. It was an old baronial mansion belonging to the Napier family and started with a tower in the 12th century that was gradually added to. The origin of the name in unknown although some believe it relates to the wrights who lived there, who worked felling oaks on the Burghmuir.
