A row of very old dilapidated houses stands on the Pleasance, Edinburgh. Several have pan tile roofs and small shops on the ground floor including a repair shop and blacksmiths. A lady in a white cloche hat stands in the doorway of the blacksmiths. They are surrounded by tall tenements behind them. A cobbled road runs in front of them.
