The ruins of a religious building stand overgrown by shrubs and trees. Monumental aspects of the religious building remain, such as large arched windows, as well as a small cross which sit atop the highest peak of the remains. A roofed building standing unobtrusively to the left of the image.

This item is dated to 1837.
W.F. Skene was the second son of Jame Skene and became well known as a historian and antiquarian. It is probable that this image depicts the Oronsay Priory. Built in the 14th century as an Augustinian monastery and dedicated to St. Columba, very little is actually known about the priory due to a lack of surviving records.
