Description
A small fishing community on the banks of a loch hang out herring nets to dry on the beach, while small fishing boats return after a day of fishing. Two women stand outside a small cottage, while at the other end of the bay, the ruins of a castle stand amongst a clump of trees.

Item is dated 6 aug 1834.
Built in the 15th century by the Maclachlan clan, Castle Lachlan remained in use until the 18th Cenutry, when legend has it that it was bombarded by English warships in revenge for the clan's leader supporting Bonnie Prince Charlie in the Jacobite Uprising of 1745.
