Blackfriar's Wynd led from the High Street down to the Dominican priory which stood on the south side of the Cowgate, east of Robertson's Close. This narrow Wynd has since been widened and is called Blackfriar's Street.
The Old Edinburgh Club was founded in 1908 with the aim of recording the vanishing evidence of Edinburgh's history, its buildings and its people. While the Club's original focus was the Old Town, over time the Club became concerned with the local history of the whole of Edinburgh.
