Boyle (1772–1841), a distinguished advocate and former Solicitor-General and MP for Ayrshire, was appointed Lord Justice-Clerk in 1811 and later became Lord President, earning high regard for his meticulous preparation, judicial diligence, and public service. Lord Gillies (1766–1842), appointed to the bench in 1811 despite political opposition, was widely respected for his incisive reasoning, formidable memory, and clarity of judgment, qualities that made him one of the most influential judges of his time.
