"CAMPBELLS OF BREADALBANE

The Campbells trace their descent to an antiquity equal to that of any of the clans. Diarmid, a warrior celebrated in Ossianic poetry, is the progenitor of this surname, and tradition represents the Campbells as Barons of Lochow since the fifth century."
