Inverarity is a village in Angus, Scotland, UK, on the A90, 6 miles from Forfar, and 7 miles from Dundee. The nearest villages are Gateside, Invereighty, Kincaldrum and Gallowfauld. Inverarity used to be in the old county of Forfarshire. Its name means "creek of Arity".
Mary Webster, the artist, was born in 1794 to John Webster, Minister of the Parish Church at Inverarity. The family lived in Inverarity, a village seven miles north of Dundee until her father died in 1807 and they moved to live with Mary's mother's family in Carmyllie.
Described as the 'Manse', this may be Mary's childhood home.
