Scatwell lies in the broad valley of Strathconon, some 9.5 miles (15km) north west of the town of Muir of Ord and 22 miles (35km) from Inverness.
Ross-shire is a historic county in the Scottish Highlands. The county borders Sutherland, Cromartyshire, Inverness-shire and an exclave of Nairnshire. It includes most of Ross as well as Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. Dingwall is the traditional county town.
