The accompanying descriptive text in the volume begins as follows:
'This mansion, the residence of Alexander Campbell, Esq., is situated in the parish of Cramond, and is about five miles west from the city of Edinburgh. It was for some time called New Saughton, but is now known under its ancient name of Cammo.
It stands on the eastern slope of Leny Hill, amidst fine old woods and picturesque grounds,
which command fine views of the River Almond on one side, forming its northern boundary for nearly a mile, and of the Firth of Forth on the other.'
Cammo was destroyed by fire in 1980.
The full text may be viewed from the volume which is held at the Edinburgh and Scottish Collection in Edinburgh Central Library.
